In this episode, we explore the lineage of the Hasanat Abu Mu'ailiq tribe from southern Palestine, as it has been passed down by the elders of the tribe and supported by references in the Torah and the Hebrew Bible, corroborated by established historians and encyclopedic sources.
The Hasanat Abu Mu'ailiq tribe is considered the oldest Palestinian tribe, tracing its ancestry to King Abimelech of Gerar, peace be upon him—the father of Palestine—who hosted the Prophet Abraham ( peace be upon him) after his migration to Canaan.
Historical accounts indicate that the ancestor of the tribe was involved in the covenant made with Prophet Abraham, which was later renewed during the time of Prophet Moses, peace be upon them. This covenant involved seven tribal alliances from the region of Palestine and was sealed with the sacrifice of seven lambs in what is now southern Israel—giving the place its name, Be’er Sheva (the “Well of the Seven”).
We document this history through oral tradition, testimony of elders, recognized historical accounts, place names, and ancestral homesteads that still exist today.
Follow the rest of the series to discover the origins of the Canaanite Tribe of Abimelech and its descendants, who remain present across Be’er Sheva, Gaza, Jordan, and the diaspora.
